RETRIEVER WOMEN'S LACROSSE BEATS AMERICAN, 15-11

Washington, D.C.—The UMBC women’s lacrosse team won their second game in a row today with a 15-11 victory at American University. With the win, the Retrievers move their record to 3-4 on the season.UMBC (3-4, 1-0 NEC) started off strong in this contest as senior midfielder Jamie Gerhart scored just 49 seconds in. Following their teammate’s lead, junior midfielder Stephanie Allen and sophomore attacker Jen Dragoni converted goals of their own to open up a 3-0 Retriever lead at 12:39 of the first half. Not to be outdone, junior midfielder Lauren Traber notched back-to-back-to-back tallies to give UMBC a 6-3 advantage early in the second half.Eventually, the Retrievers opened up a 12-6 lead, their biggest of the game, as Traber scored two more times. UMBC would then hold off a late Eagle rally to preserve the 15-11 win.Traber, a native of Columbia, MD, continued her hot streak with four goals on the day, giving her ninth in the last three games. Gerhart added two goals and three assists and Dragoni had a big day as well with four goals and an assist.
