BOSTON UNIVERSITY UPENDS WOMEN'S LACROSSE, 11-8

Baltimore, MD—After scoring four of the first five goals, the UMBC women’s lacrosse team allowed Boston University to tally the next seven en route to their 11-8 win on a cold and windy day at UMBC Stadium. The Retrievers (0-3) came out strong early, converting their first four shots while taking leads of 3-0 and 4-1. After a Jen Dragoni score at the 13:40 mark of the first half, however, UMBC would fail to put another shot in the net until 9:12 of the second stanza, a drought of over 24 minutes.Boston (2-2) kept the pressure on as Terrier senior Kristin Abruzzese scored four of her five goals in the first half, leading to a 7-4 halftime advantage. The Retrievers would trim the lead to 10-8 on a goal by senior Jamie Gerhart at the 4:22 mark, but they could get no closer. Abruzzese led the Terriers with five goals and one assist while senior Ericka Hergenroeder chipped in three goals and an assist. For UMBC, Dragoni led the way with two goals and two assists while Gerhart had a goal and three assists.
