2/26/2007

Ali Levendusky led the Retrievers with seven goals and 11 points in three games last week.

Boston-UMBC junior attack Ali Levendusky was named America East Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week for the first week of the 2007 season, the conference announced Monday.

Levendusky led the Retrievers to a 2-1 record with seven goals and 11 points in the first three games of the season. She scored two goals and added a career-high four assists for a team-best six points in UMBC’s 23-7 season-opening win over Howard, then scored one goal against sixth-ranked Maryland. Levendusky ended the week with a season-high four goals in UMBC’s 13-5 victory over Bucknell. She picked up three ground balls and won three draw controls on the week, as well.

The player of the week award is the second of Levendusky’s career. She was a first-team all-conference selection in 2006 after leading the Retrievers with 41 goals and 54 points.

Levendusky and the Retrievers return to action Wednesday when they take on local rival Loyola on the road. Game time is 1 p.m.
