16th-RANKED OLD DOMINION HANDS WOMEN'S LACROSSE SECOND STRAIGHT DEFEAT, 12-6

Norfolk, VA—In a game against the 16th-ranked Old Dominion Monarchs yesterday at Foreman Field in Norfolk, VA, the Retrievers fell 12-6. UMBC’s record now stands at 0-2 on the season.The Monarchs would jump out to a 4-0 lead in the opening half before UMBC would get on the scoreboard with a goal by senior Loree Miller. The Retrievers would convert two more tallies before the half ended, trimming the ODU lead to two at 5-3.Old Dominion would regain control of the contest with the first two goals of the second stanza to secure a 7-3 lead. The Retrievers scoring trouble continued as they would net just three more goals in the game, equaling their output in their season opener against Loyola. Overall, Miller and junior Stephanie Allen led UMBC with two goals apiece while seniors Beth Milani and Jamie Gerhart added one goal each.
