9/21/2006

UMBC head women's lacrosse coach is the reigning America East Coach of the Year.

Baltimore-UMBC head women’s lacrosse coach Courtney Connor has announced the Retrievers’ fall schedule, which consists of seven events, including five tournaments and an alumni game.

The team has already kicked off its fall play, with scrimmages against Japan, as well as the Greyhound Invitational at Loyola College, where the Retrievers faced Loyola and Delaware.

Next up is a Round Robin at Mount St. Mary’s on Sunday, Sept. 24, where UMBC will face Connor’s former team, the host Mount at 1 p.m. and American at 2 p.m. One week later, the Retrievers will head north for the University of Delaware Tournament on Oct. 1 before hosting the UMBC True Grit Tournament on Oct. 8.

On Oct. 14 the Retrievers will take part in the Round Robin at the University of Maryland, Connor’s alma mater. UMBC’s fall schedule concludes with an alumni game at 12 p.m. on Oct. 21 as part of Homecoming weekend.

The Retrievers won their first-ever America East regular season championship in 2006 and hosted the conference tournament as the top seed with a 5-1 league record and 10-8 overall mark. It was UMBC’s first winning season since 2003.
