Baltimore, Md.-UMBC seniors Julie Libertini (Parkton, Md./Mount de Sales) and Kelly Fiorani (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) were named to the 2006 America East Women’s Lacrosse All-Championship Team, the conference announced Sunday.

Fiorani scored two points on a goal and an assist in the top-seeded Retrievers’ 12-5 semifinal loss to New Hampshire Friday morning. The midfielder finishes the season with a career-high 53 points on a career-best 39 goals en route to First Team All-Conference honors. In addition, she ends her career third on UMBC’s all-time goals and points scored lists with 140 and 189, respectively.

Libertini’s defensive play and free-position goal in the final minutes of the semifinal earned her all-championship team honors. The goal was the third of the season for the First-Team All-Conference defender.

The Retrievers finish the season with a 10-8 overall record, their first winning season since 2003. Seven players earned all-conference accolades and first-year head coach Courtney Connor was named America East Coach of the Year.

Boston University’s Danica Strutt was named Most Outstanding Player of the 2006 America East Women’s Lacrosse Championships. She helped lead the second-seeded Terriers to their second straight conference title with a 12-10 victory over fourth-seeded New Hampshire.
