4/4/2006

Susie Sweeney recorded 13 saves en route to America East Defender of the Week honors.

Ali Levendusky scored five points on four goals against the Terriers.

Kara Dorr scored four goals against Boston University.

Boston-UMBC sophomore attack Ali Levendusky (Baldwin, Md./John Carroll) was named America East Co-Player of the Week and freshman goalie Susie Sweeney (Madison, N.J./Madison) was tabbed America East Defender of the Week for the week ending April 2, the conference announced Monday. In addition, freshman midfielder Kara Dorr (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) earned Rookie of the Week honors from womenslacrosse.com.

Levendusky scored four goals and added an assist in the Retrievers’ 16-13 upset victory over 11th-ranked Boston University. Her final three goals came in the second half, including two of the Retrievers’ final four tallies as they pulled away for their first-ever win over the defending America East champions. Levendusky is third on the team with 19 goals and fourth with 24 points this season.

Sweeney recorded 13 saves, including nine in the first half, to help fend off the Terriers. She has registered 90 saves on the season.

Dorr was instrumental in UMBC's upset of Boston U., scoring four goals, scooping up seven groundballs and adding three draw controls and two caused turnovers. Two of those goals came in a 5-1 run when the game was tied at 10-10.

Levendusky shares America East Player of the Week honors with New Hampshire’s Katie Leland.

The Retrievers return to action Tuesday afternoon, as they head to Washington, D.C., to take on regional rival American at 4 p.m.
