UMBC WOMEN’S LACROSSE FALLS AT HOME AS OHIO U. TOPS RETRIEVERS, 11-6

    Kelly Fiorani scored four goals and added an assist on Friday evening.

    Baltimore, Md. -  UMBC (3-9) lost their final non-conference game of the year in their first game on the new UMBC Turf as Ohio U. (5-8) defeated the Retrievers, 11-6 on Friday afternoon at UMBC Stadium.   The Retrievers, who never led in the contest, fell victim to four shots off the post in the first half as the Bobcats built a 6-2 lead heading into halftime.  

     

    UMBC was led by Kelly Fiorani, who scored four goals in the game and added an assist for five points.  Fiorani led the UMBC charge to open the second half, scoring all-three of UMBC’s opening goals in the second period to close the lead to 6-5 by the 20 minute mark.

     

    The Bobcats’ Julie Roguski responded with a goal at 19:36 to move Ohio U., back to a two-goal advantage as the Bobcats scored five of the final six goals in the game.  Dana Dobbie finished with three goals and two assists to lead the Bobcats while Frannie Sullivan tallied three goals and one assist.  Jen Heup made eight saves in the win. 

     

    Kelly Fahey and Anna Jacobs added UMBC’s other two goals in the game.  Kristina Raab made six saves for the Retrievers. 

     

    UMBC returns to action with conference foe Binghamton on Sunday, April 24 at 2 p.m. at UMBC Stadium.
