Baltimore, MD—Junior attacker Kelly Trahon scored four goals and sophomore midfielder Lindsay Lewis added two goals and four assists as pre-season favorite Boston University (4-6, 2-0 America East) defeated host UMBC (2-8, 1-1 AE), 14-6, in women’s lacrosse action at UMBC Stadium.
The Terriers held UMBC scoreless in the first half, as Trahon scored three consecutive goals to key her team’s 7-0 first half lead. UMBC finally got on the board as freshman Kelly Fahey (Bel Air, MD, MD/C. Milton Wright) converted a feed from junior attacker Lauren Hess (Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright) at the 1:06 mark of the second half. But Lewis got that goal right back at 2:39, and after reserve Sasha Lang scored for the Terriers, Lewis fed Trahon to put Boston up, 10-1, at the 6:38 mark.
Sophomore attacker Kelly Fiorani (Sykesville, MD/Liberty) scored a pair of goals and added an assist in the second half and Fahey scored twice. BU’s Mary Beth Miller, Kaitlyn Cuneo, and Alyssa Trudel each scored a pair of goals for the visitors.
Baltimore native Anne Sheridan made 10 saves for the victors, who outshot UMBC, 31-20. The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for UMBC.
