WOMEN’S LACROSSE FALLS TO #17 WILLIAM & MARY, 17-6

William & Mary did not waste any time to begin scoring, as junior Morgan Watkins found the back of the net just 21 seconds into the game. The Tribe would score six goals before UMBC got on the board on freshman Kelly Fahey’s seventh goal of the season. Each team would score two more goals apiece in the first half, as William & Mary came away with an 8-3 advantage at the break.
In the second period, the Retrievers opened the scoring early when sophomore Kate Worthington broke away to score her sixth goal of the season just 17 seconds into the half. However, the Tribe would go on an 8-0 run in a 16-minute span to pull away with a 16-4 lead. Fahey would add another UMBC goal on a free-position shot with 5:34 remaining, and teammate Kelly Fiorani would add another for the Retrievers with 2:37 left, as William & Mary held on to the 17-6 victory.
For the game, the Tribe outshot UMBC 33-23, and gathered more ground balls, 33-30. In goal, William & Mary’s Debby Petraacca stopped nine shots in 60 minutes, while UMBC’s Jena Goldstein saved 10 in 51:48. Retriever freshman Kristina Raab came in for the final
