WOMEN'S LACROSSE DROPS FOURTH STRAIGHT TO OLD DOMINION, 19-11

NORFOLK, VA - The Old Dominion women's lacrosse team exploded for 19 goals as the Lady Monarchs defeated UMBC, 19-11, in its home opener on Foreman Field on Saturday afternoon.
In all, seven different Lady Monarchs reached the back of the Retriever net, led by Suzanne Wosczyna, who had nine points on the day.
UMBC was led by Kelly Fahey, Jen Dragoni, and Kate Worthington with two goals apiece. Both Fahey and Dragoni added in an assist to lead the Retrievers with three points.
UMBC went up 3-1 within in the first ten minutes of play, but from there, the Old Dominion defense would allow the Retrievers to score just two more goals within the half. With the Retrievers up 4-3, Old Dominion scored five answered goals to take the lead for good and enter the half up 8-5.
The Lady Monarchs outscored UMBC 11-6 in the second half of play.
In net, sophomore Michelle Cannon made 10 saves, while UMBC's Jena Goldstein and Kristina Raab combined for eight.
