Baltimore, MD—The fourth-ranked Duke University women’s lacrosse team (1-0) scored eleven unanswered goals in the second half to break open a tight game and defeated UMBC (0-1), 17-4, in the opener for both teams.

The Blue Devils never trailed, as Katie Chrest gave the visitors a 1-0 just 1:07 into the game and they extended the lead to 3-0 on scores by Katie Laschinger and Kristen Waagbo 5:19 into the contest.
