	Quinn Carney
	Position: Assistant Coach Alma Mater: Maryland '01

Former All-American Quinn Carney begins her first season as assistant coach at UMBC. Carney spent the last two seasons as a volunteer assistant coach at the University of California.

Prior to working with the Golden Bears, Carney served as an assistant coach at Stanford University for three seasons. During her term, the Cardinal compiled a 35-20 record and won two consecutive Mountain Pacific Lacrosse League titles.

Carney was a four-year starter on four consecutive national championship teams and three Atlantic Coast Conference title squads at the University of Maryland (1998-2001), where she was a teammate of UMBC head coach Courtney Connor. A Tewaaraton Trophy finalist, Carney is a two-time All-American and Academic All-American and a three-time All-ACC selection. She was also named the MVP of the 2001 ACC Tournament, and she was selected to the 2001 NCAA Championship All-Tournament Team. She currently ranks in the Terps’ top five in career goals (162), assists (110) and points (272).

Carney has also played for the U.S. National Team since 1997, and she helped lead the squad to the 2001 world championship and the silver medal at the 2005 World Cup. She was also a member of the 2005 All-World Team.

“To get a coach the caliber of Quinn into our program speaks volumes,” Connor said. “She’s been involved in coaching for the past six years, and she’s been an integral part of the growth of lacrosse, especially on the west coast. She is one of the top players in the world currently, and I know that the team will flourish under her knowledge. It’s great to get the opportunity to work with Quinn after playing alongside her for four years at Maryland.”

A native of Flemington, N.J., Carney graduated from Maryland in 2001 with a degree in communication.
