CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – UMBC freshman guard Taylor McCarley (Bowie, Md./Academy of Holy
Cross) picked up her second consecutive America East Rookie of the Week honor, as announced by the conference office on Monday.
McCarley led the Retrievers in scoring last week at 13.0 points per game, while adding 6.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals per contest.
Despite foul trouble limiting her playing time versus New Hampshire, McCarley tallied eight points, four rebounds and four assists versus the Wildcats. The Bowie, Md., native reset her career-high in scoring for the second time in four games when she totaled 18 points versus Vermont on Saturday. The rookie added a career-best eight rebounds and knocked down 12-of-15 free throw attempts, the most by any Retriever this season.
McCarley is averaging a team-best 11.0 points and 2.0 steals per game during America East action, ranking 16th and seventh in the league, respectively.
The honor is the second of the season for the rookie and the fourth for the Retrievers this season.
