Women's Basketball Hosts Vermont on Saturday for Senior Day
Senior Erin Brown will be playing in her final game at the RAC
BALTIMORE, MD. - The UMBC women's basketball (14-14, 8-7 America East) team will celebrate the careers of three of its most successful seniors on Saturday when the Retrievers host America East rival Vermont in the final home game of the year. Tip-off at the RAC is scheduled for 1 p.m.
Before the game seniors Erin Brown (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman), Michelle Kurowski (Hicksville, N.Y./Hicksville) and Topé Obajolu (Randallstown, Md./Archbishop Carroll) will be honored in a Senior Day ceremony.

RETRIEVER UPDATE:UMBC is now 14-14 and 8-7 in America East play following Wednesday’s loss at conference leading Boston U., 61-56.
Freshman Lauren Chase led the way for the Retrievers scoring 14 points. Junior Kristin Coles scored 13 points and grabbed ten rebounds to record her team-leadining fourth double-double of the season. She is now tied with Erin Brown for the team lead. Michelle Kurowski was held to six points by the Terriers, breaking her career-long double digit scoring streak at 13 games.
Kurowski and Erin Brown, who leads the America East in scoring with 14.8 points per game, are two of just 12 Retrievers ever in the 1,000-point/500-rebound club.
UMBC is the preseason favorite to win the America East Conference after winning the 2011 regular-season title with a 13-3 record in league play. The Retrievers posted a 20-12 overall mark, matching the school record for wins in a season, and earned a berth in the WNIT after falling to Hartford in the America East semifinals.
CATAMOUNT UPDATE: Vermont sits at seventh in the America East at 10-18 overall and 4-11 in conference play, after having the week off. Last Sunday, the Catamounts defeated visiting Maine, 65-53, at Patrick Gymnasium. Niki Taylor led the Catamounts with 16 points, while Ashley Hoyt and Tierra Shumpert each scored 13 for the hosts. UMBC beat Vermont, 67-58, back on Jan. 22 at Patrick Gymnasium in Burlington, Vt. Senior Michelle Kurowski scored a then season-high 20 points for the Retrievers, while junior Kristin Coles added 19. Seniors Erin Brown and Topé Obajolu were also in double figures for UMBC.
