Kurowski Named America East Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

CAMBRIDGE,
Kurowski averaged 19.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.0 steals in three contests last week. She shot 54.1 percent (20-for-37) from the floor, including 58.3 percent (7-for-12) from 3-point range, and she was a perfect 10-for-10 from the foul line.
To start the week, she scored eight points against George Mason, all in the first half, and added four rebounds and four steals. Kurowski then broke out of her early-season slump at this weekend’s Iona Thanksgiving Classic, averaging 24.5 points and earning All-Tournament Team honors.

With the back-to-back 20-point performances – her first two of the season – Kurowski raised her season scoring average from 8.4 points per game to 13.0 in two contests, and she also raised her season shooting percentage by nearly 100 points.
Kurowski is the first Retriever to be named America East Player of the Week since she earned the honor on Nov. 30, 2009.
Kurowski and the Retrievers return to action on Saturday, when they host Bucknell at 2 p.m.
