Retrievers Drop 70-61 Decision to Delaware
Michelle Kurowski recorded 17 points, nine rebounds and five assists to lead the Retrievers against Delaware.
BALTIMORE—Sophomore guard Michelle Kurowski (Hicksville, N.Y./Hicksville) and senior guard Carlee Cassidy (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) each scored 17 points, but the UMBC women’s basketball team (4-3) saw its three-game losing streak snapped in a 70-61 loss to Delaware (3-3) Saturday afternoon at the RAC Arena.
The Blue Hens held the Retrievers to just 21.9 percent shooting in the first half and built a 35-23 lead at intermission.
Delaware extended its lead to 17 points at 39-56 with 9:07 left in the game, but an 18-6 UMBC run cut it to just five, 62-57, with 2:11 to play. Cassidy and sophomore guard Katie Brooks (
