Cassidy Nabs Third America East Women’s Basketball Player of the Week Award

Cassidy averaged 22.5 points per game and shot 48.6 percent (17-for-35) from the floor and 42.1 percent (8-for-19) from 3-point range in two games last week, and she was named to the Terrapin Classic All-Tournament Team.

Cassidy leads the Retrievers and the America East with 16.7 points per game this season, nearly a whole point more than her closest competition, Hartford’s Danielle Hood (15.8). She has scored in double figures in 11 of 13 games this season, including the last six, during which time she has averaged 20.0 points per game. Cassidy has posted 20 or more points four times, including in three of the last four contests.
Cassidy also ranks among the leaders in the conference in 3-pointers made per game (T-2nd, 2.31), minutes played (6th, 31.92 mpg), free throw percentage (T-11th, 78.6 percent) and field goal percentage (14th, 48.1 percent).
The award is the third of the season for Cassidy, who also earned Player of the Week honors for Week 1 (Nov. 9-11) and Week 5 (Dec. 3-9). She and Hood are the only players in the conference to win the award more than once this season, with three apiece.
Sharri Rohde (2005-06) and Matea Pender (2004-05) are the only other Retrievers to be named America East Player of the Week more than once in a season.
