UMBC Women’s Basketball Adds Swedish National Star Jenny Lidgren for 2007-08 Season

Baltimore-UMBC head women’s basketball coach Phil Stern announced today that Swedish National team member Jenny Lidgren will join the Retrievers as a freshman for the 2007-08 season.
Lidgren, a 6-foot-2 post player, has played for the Swedish National team since she was 16 years old. She will spend this summer playing in
Lidgren played for the Under-18 team for the last two summers, leading the Swedish team to the bronze medal at the 2006 European Championships in
Lidgren is a member of the Solna Vikings club team, one of the top teams in the elite amateur division in
“We are fortunate to get a player of Jenny’s caliber this late, and we are excited about working with her over the next four years,” Stern said.
Lidgren is the fifth member of the Retrievers’ 2007 recruiting class. She joins classmates Michele Brokans, Meghan Colabella and Chrissy Robinson, who signed National Letters of Intent during the early signing period in November, as well as junior college standout Chantay Frazier, who committed to UMBC last week.
