Rohde Tabbed America East Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

Rohde recorded back-to-back double-doubles last week, the third and fourth of her career, as she averaged 20.0 ppg and 10.0 rpg in two contests. In UMBC’s 61-60 loss at American on Nov. 28, she scored 17 points and posted 10 rebounds. She shot .462 (6-for-13) from the floor and was a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line. She also added an assist, a block and a steal in 37 minutes. Eight of her rebounds came in the second half.
Rohde bested that performance four days later in UMBC’s 78-72 come-from-behind victory at Fairleigh Dickinson on Dec. 2. The team co-captain tied a career high with 23 points and again grabbed 10 rebounds. She also recorded eight assists, leaving her two dishes shy of a triple-double. Rohde shot .500 (8-for-16) from the field and added two blocks and two steals in a season-high 39 minutes. Again coming on strong in the second period, she scored 16 points and posted eight rebounds after halftime.
Rohde has scored in double figures in the last five games and six of seven this season, averaging a team-best 14.9 ppg. She has started every game of her career, a streak of 91 consecutive starts.
The Retrievers (3-4) return to action Wednesday, Dec. 6, when they host in-state rival Navy at 7 p.m. The game is UMBC’s last at home before the new year.
