SHARRI ROHDE AMONG NOMINEES FOR WBCA FEBRUARY PLAYER OF THE MONTH AWARD

    Sharri Rohde was one of the nominees for the WBCA February Player of the Month award.

    Atlanta, Ga. – UMBC junior forward Sharri Rohde (Indianapolis, Ind./Franklin Central) was one of the nominees for the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Player of the Month award for the month of February.  The WBCA announced on Tuesday that North Carolina’s Ivory Latta won the award while Rohde was the America East Conference represented for the month’s accolades. 

     

    Rohde led the Retrievers to a 5-3 record during the month of February, including a victory over then-second ranked Boston U. and an overtime loss to top seeded Hartford.  For the month of February, Rohde ranked third in America East in scoring, 16.5 ppg, sixth in rebounding, 6.9 rpg, first in assists, 3.88 apg, first in field goal percentage, 58.3 percent and third in three-point field goal percentage, 43.5 percent.  She was named America East’s Wilson Player of the Week on Feb. 13, 2006. 

     

    Latta en route to winning the honor boasted averages of 22.0 points per game in seven February games to lead the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), while scoring at least 18 points in every game. She also averaged 4.4 assists per game and 2.6 steals per game. She was named ACC Player of the Month twice in February (Feb. 6 and Feb. 27).
