UMBC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL’S SHARRI RODHE TABBED AMERICA EAST WILSON CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK

    Sharri Rohde played all 40 minutes in both games last week, averaging 19.5 ppg, 9.0 rpg and 5.5 apg.

    Boston, Mass. – UMBC women’s basketball junior Sharri Rohde (Indianapolis, Ind./Franklin Central) was named America East Conference Wilson Co-Player of the Week on Monday after pacing the Retrievers to back-to-back wins last week and extending the UMBC win streak to six games.  Rohde played in all 40 minutes in both games last week to average 19.5 points per game, 9.0 rebounds per game and 5.5 assists per game.

     

     Rohde opened the week at Boston U., scoring a career-high 23 points on making 9-of-12 attempts from the field.  She added eight rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two steals to her line on the day. 

     

    Rohde completed the week with her second double-double of the season, scoring 16 points to go with 10 rebounds against Vermont in a come-from-behind win at home.  Rohde scored nine of her points and corralled seven of her rebounds in the second half as UMBC erased a 12-point halftime deficit for the win.  Rohde was 7-for-12 from the field and 2-for-3 from three point range while adding to the offense with a team-high five assists in the game. 

     

    Rohde shot 66.7 percent from the field, going a combined 16-for-24 including 4-for-5 outside the arc for a 80.0 percent three-point field goal percentage last week.

     

    Rohde during UMBC’s six-game win streak is averaging 17.7 ppg, 8.8 rpg and shooting 62.5 percent from the field, making 40-of-64 attempts.  On the season her average has rose to 11.8 ppg.      

     

    Rohde shares the honor with Maine’s Abby Schrader while Hartford’s Erica Beverly was named conference rookie of the week. 

     

    UMBC returns to action as they host league leading Hartford on Wednesday, February 15 at 7 p.m.
