UMBC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL ANNOUNCES THE PROMOTION OF KATIE ROKUS TO FIRST ASSISTANT/RECRUITING COORDINATOR

Baltimore, Md. – UMBC Women’s Basketball Head Coach Phil Stern announced today the promotion of Katie Rokus to first assistant and recruiting coordinator of the Retrievers’ women’s basketball program. Rokus has served the past two seasons as the team’s second assistant and has been heavily involved in the recruiting process since her initial hire.
“This is a natural progression for Katie,” said Stern. “She is very intelligent, organized and a great communicator. She has already proven her abilities and will do a great job leading our recruiting efforts.”
During her tenure Rokus has overseen and been involved with all aspects of the program, including supervising the team’s academic status which has recorded over a 3.0 GPA through the fall 2004 semester. Since her initial start she has preformed admirably handling the duties of team travel, practice scheduling, camp coordination and recruitment.
“I am looking forward to the new challenges that lie ahead,” said Rokus on her new position. “As we continue to recruit at the mid-major level, I am excited about the opportunities of working with young student-athletes in our quest for a conference championship.”
