The game marked UMBC’s final non-conference game of the year as they begin America East Conference play next week when they travel to Stony Brook on Wednesday, Jan. 5 at 7:00 p.m.
Game Notes: Towson’s 60-43 win over UMBC is their second straight win in the series after defeating UMBC last year, 54-42…Towson leads the 40-game series with UMBC with an advantage of 29-11…UMBC finishes their non-conference slate at 5-4, their best non-conference finish since going 8-7 in the 1990-91 season, their first year in the East Coast Conference since turning Division-I four years prior…Sharri Rohde finished with a season-high 15 points for UMBC…she was two points away from her career-high of 17 points scored last year against Loyola on Jan. 3…Rohde finished with three blocks as well as her blocks per game average continues to rise…Rohde entered the game seventh in the America East at 0.75 bpg and now has five blocks in the last two games…Matea Pender, after averaging 18.1 ppg through the first seven games, has two points in the last two contests and is 1-for-12 in the last two games from the field…Pender did finish with a season and team-high nine rebounds...UMBC had 39 rebounds in the game, the second time this season they have eclipsed 30-rebounds in a game.
