MARYLAND TOPS UMBC WOMEN’S HOOPS 72-38
The Terps never trailed in the game as they took a 4-2 lead at the mark and never looked back running out to a 19-5 lead. Behind eight first-half points by Shay Doron, including two treys, the Terps extended their lead out to 36-19 by half, shooting 58.3 percent from the field and 62.5 percent from three-point range (5-of-8).
In the second half the two teams doubled up their halftime score, with the Terps and Retrievers scoring an identical 36 and 19 points, respectively. The Retrievers originally knocked the lead back to 16 with a three by Sharri Rohde to open the second half but were downed by an 8-0 run through the middle of the half as the Terps hit 46.4 percent of their shots in the second half.
The Retrievers were led by Mariana Santos with seven points and five points by Rohde and Heather Luttrell. The Terps were led by 12 points from C’Vette Henson and 10 from Shay Doron.
