AS A SOPHOMORE (2008-09): Served as team co-captain… The only Retriever to start all 30 games on the season… Led UMBC with 52 steals and 110 assists, ranking fourth and fifth, respectively, all-time among Retriever sophomores… Ranked second in the America East and 46th in the NCAA with a 1.7 assist-to-turnover ratio… Also ranked fifth in the conference with 3.7 assists per game and seventh with 1.7 steals per contest… Also ranked fourth on the team with 4.0 rebounds per game and third with 11 blocks, including nine against league opponents… Twelve of her 15 field goals on the season were 3-pointers… Committed just nine turnovers and boasted a 3.2 assist-to-turnover ratio through the first nine games of the season… Averaged 5.1 apg in the first eight America East contests… Posted eight assists and four steals against
AS A FRESHMAN (2007-08): Led the Retrievers with 69 assists, the eighth-highest total ever by a UMBC freshman… Became the first Retriever rookie to start a season opener since Sharri Rohde in 2003… Pulled down a team-high seven rebounds against George Washington in the opener (Nov. 9)… Drilled a 3-pointer for her only score of the game… Dished out four assists against Rider (Nov. 11)… Collected the first three steals of her career at
HIGH SCHOOL: Named Pioneer Athletic Conference Player of the Year as a senior… A four-time All-Conference honoree… Also a four-time All-Area selection by The Reporter and The Intelligencer, and a two-time All-Area selection by The Times Herald… Averaged 8.9 points, 6.2 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 4.3 steals per game as a senior… Received the Genuardi Award as Lansdale Catholic’s Most Outstanding Female Athlete as a junior and senior… Three-time team MVP who captained her squad all three years, as well… Led her AAU team, Fencor, to three national championships, five straight appearances in the title game and seven consecutive appearances in the top 5 at the AAU National Championship Tournament… Also led Fencor to seven consecutive Middle Atlantic Association Regional AAU championships with a combined 47-1 record… Was invited to the Middle Atlantic Regional AAU All-Star Team tryouts to represent the region at the National Junior Olympics in June 2004… Also a four-year lacrosse standout at Lansdale Catholic who earned All-Conference honors from 2005-07… A member of the National Honor Society.
PERSONAL: The third of six children to Ed and Elaine Brokans… Has an older brother, Joe, an older sister, Laura, a younger brother, Tommy, and two younger sisters, Mary Kate and Erin… Born Jan. 6, 1989… Majoring in psychology with a minor in social welfare.
