AS A SOPHOMORE (2008-09): Saw action in 17 games and averaged 4.6 minutes per contest… Made her first career start on Jan. 17 against Maine and scored two points in four minutes of action… Picked up her first career block on Nov. 30 against UMES… Scored a season-high seven points with her only 3-pointer of the season and grabbed three rebounds in 14 minutes against Rider (Dec. 29)… Missed the last two games of the regular season with a sprained ankle, but returned for the America East quarterfinals match against Binghamton, scoring four points in three minutes… Went 8-for-9 at the foul line on the season… Was recognized on the America East Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

 

AS A FRESHMAN (2007-08): Saw action in 25 games and averaged 6.2 minutes per outing… Made her collegiate debut in the season opener, playing one minute against George Washington (Nov. 9)… Picked up her first career rebound and steal in six minutes at Coppin State (Nov. 14)… Scored her first career points on a lay-up with 7:18 to play against James Madison (Nov. 16)… Added her first career 3-pointer two minutes later to finish with five points in four minutes… Played 23 minutes, including the entire second half, at Navy (Dec. 5) and grabbed a career-high six rebounds, including four on the offensive end of the floor… Tripled her previous career best with 15 points on a career-high seven field goals in 24 minutes to lead the Retrievers at Hartford (Feb. 5) and earned America East Player of the Game… Scored seven points and recorded two steals in just nine minutes at New Hampshire (Feb. 23)… Shot 42.9 percent (21-for-49) on the season, including 50 percent (13-for-26) in 12 America East games… Garnered recognition on the America East Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

 

HIGH SCHOOL: A two-time Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Player of the Year (2006, 2007)… Also earned Player of the Year honors from the Morning Sentinel, as well as First-Team All-State from the Bangor Daily News and Portland Press Herald as a senior… A finalist for Miss Maine Basketball 2007… Scored 1,398 points in her career, with 508 points scored during her senior season, when she averaged 24.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.1 steals and 2.0 assists per game… Led the Messalonskee Eagles to a 17-1 record and the 2007 Eastern Maine Class A finals, where she was held scoreless in the first half before exploding for 28 points in the second period, including the game-tying 3-pointer at the buzzer to send the game against eventual state champion Cony into overtime… Scored 20 points for the East team in the Maine McDonald’s Senior All-Star game… A Third-Team All-State selection by the Bangor Daily News as a junior… Earned First-Team All-Conference as a sophomore… Selected to the All-Rookie Team as a freshman… A four-year starter in high school and two-time Best Offensive Player (2004, 2005) on her team… Also played softball for three years at Messalonskee and was the first baseman for the state championship team as a sophomore… An Honor Roll student who received the Ed Fabian Award for excellent academic achievement.

 

PERSONAL: One of three children to Pamela Barker and Linwood Barker… Mother played college basketball at Southern Maine… Has an older sister, Hillary, and a twin sister, Amanda, who plays softball at UMBC… Amanda was also a four-year basketball starter at Messalonskee High School who joined Chelsea in the 1,000-point club for her career… Chose UMBC over Maine Maritime Academy to fulfill her dream of playing Division I basketball… Born June 16, 1989… A psychology major.
