AS A FRESHMAN (2008-09): Selected to the America East All-Rookie Team after averaging 9.2 points and 5.5 rebounds per game… UMBC’s fourth-leading scorer and second-leading rebounder… Led the Retrievers with a .451 field goal percentage (114-for-253) and ranked third in three-pointers (23)… Ranked seventh in the America East in shooting percentage, 11th in rebounding and 22nd in scoring… The league’s second-best freshman rebounder and fourth-best rookie scorer… Averaged a team-best 6.1 rpg against America East opponents to go along with 10.4 ppg, the Retrievers’ third-highest mark… Ranked seventh all-time among UMBC freshmen in field goals (114), three-pointers (23) and three-point attempts (72), ninth in points (276) and 10th in rebounds (165)… Played in all 30 games and made 27 starts… Averaged 29.7 minutes per game, the second-most on the team… Recorded her first career double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds against UMES (Nov. 30), the first double-double at UMBC since February 2007… Scored a career-high 22 points on 9-of-11 shooting and made her first seven field goal attempts of the game… Posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds in 40 minutes against Towson (Dec. 6)… Named America East Rookie of the Week on Dec. 30 (Week 7) after averaging 14.0 ppg and 5.0 rpg while shooting 52.2 percent (12-for-23) in two games at the Marriott Cavalier Classic (Dec. 28-29)… Recorded a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds against Maine (Jan. 17)… Named America East Rookie of the Week on Jan. 26 (Week 11) after averaging 16.5 ppg and 7.0 rpg and shooting 69.6 percent (16-for-23) against Albany and Binghamton… Posted her fourth double-double of the season with 19 points and 10 rebounds against the Bearcats (Jan. 24)… Scored in double figures 13 times, including four straight from Dec. 21-Jan. 7 and seven of 10 games from Jan. 17-Feb. 21… Named America East Player of the Game five times – at Vermont (Jan. 7), vs. Maine (Jan. 17), vs. Albany (Jan. 21), vs. Binghamton (Jan. 24) and at Stony Brook (Jan. 31)… Led UMBC in scoring three times and in rebounding 11 times… Garnered recognition on the America East Honor Roll.
HIGH SCHOOL: A two-time Washington Post All-Metro Honorable Mention and All-Gazette First-Team selection as a junior and senior… Also earned All-Gazette Second-Team honors as a sophomore and Honorable Mention as a freshman… Led her team to the regional title and the state semifinals as a junior… Averaged 18.8 points and 8.9 rebounds per game as a senior to lead the Vikings… Also led her team in scoring (14.6 ppg) and rebounding (7.2 rpg) as a junior… Scored more than 1,000 points in her high school career… The Vikings were 50 games over .500 in her four-year career.
PERSONAL: The third of four children to Colleen and Rick Brown… Has an older brother, Greg, an older sister, Kathleen, and a younger brother, Richard… Kathleen is an All-Conference basketball player at Marymount University… Chose UMBC over George Mason, Long Island and Marymount because of its location, coaching staff and reputation in academics… Born Sept. 21, 1989… A pre-physical therapy major.
