CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—Senior Ashley Fauntleroy (Silver Spring, Md./Paint Branch) has garnered the first America East Conference Women’s Field Performer of the Week award, for the week ending Dec. 3, the conference announced Tuesday. Fauntleroy, a four-time conference champion for the 2007-08 indoor and outdoor seasons, started just where she left off last year as she turned in two second-place finishes and two ECAC qualifying marks at the Retrievers’ first outing of the year, the Bucknell Bison Opener. The senior hurler broke 16 meters in the weight throw for the first time in her career as she threw a personal-best, ECAC-qualifying 16.32m to finish second at the Bison Opener. Fauntleroy also finished second in the shot put, narrowly missing another personal best as she recorded an ECAC qualifying mark of 14.16m. Fauntleroy’s career best in the shot put is 14.22m, which she recorded at the 2007 America East Championships. Albany’s Joe Greene and Vermont’s Carmen Lagala earned the Men’s and Women’s Track Performer of the Week awards, respectively, while Binghamton’s Rory Quiller was named the Men’s Field Performer of the Week after achieving an automatic NCAA qualifying mark in the pole vault.
