Little Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Second Team

6/7/2007

Morgan Little was named to the ESPN the Magazine All-District Second Team.

BALTIMOREUMBC senior cross country and track and field athlete Morgan Little has been named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District II Second Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday.

Little, who recently graduated magna cum laude from UMBC with a Bachelor of Arts in Ancient Studies while maintaining a 3.89 GPA, captained the cross country and track and field teams during her senior year and was most recently inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Society.  Little also recently received the Maryland Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (MACDA) Scholarship for Post-Graduate Studies, which she will use to further her education at George Washington University while pursuing a master’s degree in museum studies.

During the 2006 cross country season Little proved an integral part of the Retrievers’ team, scoring in all six meets in which she competed, but really showcased her talent during the indoor and outdoor track and field seasons.

Little was named the team Most Improved Athlete for both the indoor and outdoor seasons after finishing eighth in the 5000-meter run at the 2007 America East Indoor Track and Field Championships and fourth in the 10,000m run at the outdoor championships, while also qualifying for the ECAC Championships in the 10,000.

Over her four-year career at UMBC, Little was named to the Dean’s List all seven semesters, with one semester spent studying abroad and boasted a 4.0 GPA during four of those seven semesters.
