Women's Tennis Wins Eighth Straight; Retrievers Edge West Virginia, 4-3

    Baltimore, Md.—The UMBC women’s tennis team won four of six singles matches and defeated visiting West Virginia, 4-3 at the UMBC Tennis Complex. It was the eighth consecutive victory for the Retrievers who improved to 9-3 this spring.

     

    Singles were played first and UMBC freshman No. 1 Ana Mungo defeated Stacey Percival, 6-4, 6-2 and senior No. 3 Pascaline Cette captured a similar 6-2, 6-4 decision over Natalia Prinz. Freshman No. 6 Emily Mannix then triumphed over Ashley Pilsbury, 6-4, 6-3 and junior No. 4 Cornelia Carapcea clinched the match for the Retrievers with a 6-4, 6-3 decision over Colleen Speaker.

     

    The Mountaineers won matches at No. 2 and No. 5 singles, and captured the doubles point by sweeping all three matches.
