11/30/2006

UMBC Head Tennis Coach Keith Puryear is pleased to announce that Emily Mannix (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) and Ana Mungo (Summit, N.J./Summit) has signed national-letters-of-intent to compete at UMBC in the fall of 2007.

Emily Mannix is a two-time New Jersey state quarter-finalist and was ranked #12 in the USTA Middle States section in the girls 16-and-under in 2005. Her current ranking is #14 in the 18-and-under and she has been as high as #10 in the section. TennisRecruiting.net ranks Emily as the 208th-ranked player for the class of 2007.

Ana Mungo is a two-time New Jersey state semi-finalist and became the first player in Summit history to win a state title when she won it earlier this year. She has been ranked in the top 20 in the nation in the 14-and-under classification and is still in the top 100 in 18-and-under. TennisRecruiting.net has Ana as the 88th-ranked player in the country for the class of 2007.

“We are extremely pleased and are looking forward to having these two players suit up for us next year,” Coach Puryear said. “Ana has proven herself on the national stage and Emily is a great up-and-coming talent. We are privileged that they have chosen UMBC. I am looking forward to the opportunity to coach these newest members of the UMBC Tennis family.”
