ALE PEDERGNANA JOINS UMBC TENNIS STAFF
Former UMBC tennis standout Ale Pedergnana rejoins the Retrievers as an assistant coach.
Baltimore, Md.-UMBC tennis coach Keith Puryear today announced that former Retriever standout Ale Pedergnana will join his staff as an assistant coach.
“I’m extremely pleased to have Ale as an assistant coach,” Puryear said. “She is one of the best players we’ve had on the women’s side. She has a great knowledge of the program and played a large role in us being successful as a player, and I look forward to her doing the same as a coach. She will be a great asset to the program.”
Pedergnana concluded an outstanding four-year career with the Retrievers on the tennis courts this past spring, as she was named UMBC Co-Outstanding Senior Female Athlete.
As a freshman, Pedergnana won a team-best 27 singles matches and 42 overall (27-6, 15-2), and she was named All-Northeast Conference in both singles and doubles. She earned all-conference honors in the America East in 2004 and gradually rose to the top of the UMBC ladder and played No. 1 singles for the past two seasons.
As a senior, Pedergnana won her 100th career match in UMBC’s 4-3 victory over Army. The
