RETRIEVERS WIN B DOUBLES AT WEST VIRGINIA INVITATIONAL

The "B" doubles team of Tia Kaasalainen and Lana Khavalina won all three matches and captured the title at the West Virginia Tournament this weekend. The two Retriever newcomers won their opening round match, 8-5, on Friday, then defeated duos from Duquesne, 8-2, and Pitt, 8-3, to win the title. UMBC's "A" team of Anita Pushpanathan-Aimee Lim won their opening round match, 8-2, over Duquesne, but fell, 8-0 to the host Mountaineers. In singles action, Lim earned her way to the finals in C singles, before falling, 4-6, 6-2 (10-5), in the title match vs. West Virginia. Pushpanathan (A singles) and Khavalina (B singles) earned semi-final slots, but both lost to WVU in straight sets.
