KHVALINA REACHES FINALS OF OLD POINT NATIONAL BANK ITA INVITATIONAL AT OLD DOMINION

Norfolk, VA--Junior Lana Khvalina reached the finals in the "B" flight singles, before falling in the title match to Richmond's Robin Carter, 7-5, 6-4, to highlight the women's team effort at the Old Point National Bank ITA Invitational at Old Dominion University.
Khvalina did not drop a set in winning her first two matches, 6-4, 6-0, over James Madison's Kristin Nordstrom, and 6-1, 6-0, over George Washington's Gayle Smith. She captured a three-setter in the quarter-finals, besting UVA's Marta Bechliwanis, 6-4, 1-6, 6-0, and captured the semi-final match, 7-6 (5), 6-4 over Winthrop's Renata Barretto.
Teammates Tia Kaasalainen (A flight), Aimee Lim (B flight) and Veena Rao (C flight) all won their opening round matches, but fell in the round of 16. Lim and doubles partner Ale Pedergnana opened "B" doubles play with a victory, but lost to a duo from Hampton.
