2006-07: Produced an impressive fall for UMBC in his first semester… captured the Flight “C” Singles in the Cornell Invitational men’s tennis tournament… cruised in straight sets to defeat his first three opponents and won a tough three-set match, 6-1, 1-6, 6-4 over Cornell’s Tongle Yu in the finals… also won the “B” Flight singles bracket of the Hampton Roads Collegiate Tennis Invitational of Newport… won his first three matches in straight sets, captured a third set tie-breaker (11-9) in the semi-finals and defeated Navy’s Jason Hill, 6-4, 2-0, ret. to take the title... competed at No. 2 singles in the spring and earned First Team All America East honors... led UMBC in singles victories for the year (24) and overall wins (42)... also combined with Fernando Ferreira to form No. 3 doubles squad, which also earned First Team all-league honors.

 

Background: Also considered William & Mary, Virginia Tech, Virginia and Penn State, before deciding to attend UMBC… is considering a major of pre-medicine… father, Ted, competed in tennis at George Mason University… has older siblings, Cassie, 24, and Kevin, 21… son of Nancy and Ted Meyer… Henry Christopher Meyer was born on June 20, 1987.
