Underwent knee surgery this fall and her status for the spring is uncertain. 

 

2004-05: Earned America East Conference Women’s Tennis Performer of the Week (named 4/19) as she was a perfect 8-0 on the week at No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles as UMBC won four straight matches….like Anderson, she was ten consecutive singles matches and recorded the most singles (18) and overall victories (29) for the Retrievers last season.

 

2003-04: Posted a solid 12-7 singles record at primarily #5 singles last year...won 10 of her last 12 matches and continued her efforts by winning five of eight singles matches this fall. ..posted a record of 8-7 in doubles last year and earned All America East Conference recognition.

 

Background: Was a qualifier for the “Copa Colsanitas” WTA Tournament… has been a nationally ranked player in Columbia at both the 16- and under (third) and 18-and under (first) groups…is expected to competed for a slot in the starting lineup this spring…selected UMBC “because I liked the team, the campus, the academics, and the location”…enjoys going out with friends, listening to music, and dining on Italian food…has a younger sister, Marcela, 15…majoring in Economics...daughter of Ligia Villareal and Rafael Enrique Fonseca…born July 7, 1986.
