Led UMBC in her freshman season with 27 singles victories (27-6) and 42 overall wins (15-2 in doubles)...won her flight in the fall at the Quinnipiac Invitational...named All NEC in #4 singles and at #2 doubles..won ten straight matches, losing a game or less in eight of ten, until finishing the season with a setback in the NCAA’s to Georgia...a four-time All Long Island player…member of the four-time defending city and state champions and three-time defending Mayor's Cup team champions…defeated the defending champion, 6-2, 6-0, in the semi-finals of The Mayor's Cup…posted a record 74 consecutive victories at St. Francis…a very confident player and a former team leader…would like to major in Psychology...lso considered Cornell, Penn State, Colgate, Maryland and St. John's, but selected UMBC because of its campus, coach, and some of the current players…an admirer of athletes Lance Armstrong and Pete Sampras…also an accomplished pianist…full name is Alessandra Mercedes Pedergnana…daughter of Fanny and Pierino Pedergnana…born September 3, 1984.
