RETRIEVER MEN AND WOMEN SWIM PAST HOWARD

Baltimore, MD—
On the men’s side, UMBC won first place in all but one event. Sophomore Jakub Sroczynski and junior Josh Farley led the Retrievers, as each captured a first place spot in two events. Sroczynski led all swimmers in both the 100 and 1000 freestyle, while Farley placed first in both the 50 free and the 100 butterfly.
In women’s action, sophomore Lindsey Prather and junior Astrid Sperling led UMBC for the second day in a row, as both swimmers won two events apiece. Prather captured first in the 100 fly and 200 IM, while Sperling was victorious in both the 500 and 1000 free. In diving, Retriever freshman Sara Gifford placed first in 1-meter with a final score of 215.63, while teammate Peggy Preston led the way in 3-meter, with a score of 205.13.
Win the win, the UMBC women are now 2-1 on the season, and the men improved to 1-2.
