UMBC Men's Swimming and Diving Earns Split with Towson, Maryland

    Senior Justin Bronson won the 200 and 500 free events Saturday.

    COLLEGE PARK, Md.—The UMBC men’s swimming and diving team split a pair of meets with Towson and Maryland, while the women’s team suffered two defeats. The men’s team (3-3) defeated Towson, 168-132, but lost to the Terps, 163-134. The women’s team (3-5) dropped a 226-70 decision to the Tigers and 205-89 to Maryland.

     

    Senior Justin Bronson (Oshawa, Ontario, Canada/Msgr. Paul Dwyer) pulled off a double on the day, taking the 200 free (1:41.28) and the 500 free in a UMBC season-best time of 4:38.40.

     

    Senior Evan Roseberry (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) put forth another solid performance, winning the 1,000 free in 9:35.90, almost seven seconds faster than his previous season-best time.

     

    Freshman John Mendenhall (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) continued to impress in his first year, winning the 200 breast in a time of 2:06.82.

     

    The Retrievers return to action next weekend at the George Mason Patriot Invitational Friday through Saturday.
