Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Sweep Binghamton in Dominating Fashion

BALTIMORE—The UMBC men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams swept

In addition, the 400-free relay team of sophomore Keilan Freeman (Calgary, Alberta/Argyll Centre), Jones, Bronson and freshman Jason Mattingly (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) won in 3:09.15, while the 200-medley relay team of senior Sven Schneider (Tallinn, Estonia/Tallinn German Gymnasium), Matt Mattingly, junior Zach Vonder Haar (Gahanna, Ohio/Columbus Academy) and Jason Mattingly placed second in a season-best 1:36.15.
Finally, senior Milos Djukic (Novi Sad, Serbia & Montenegro/Svetozar Markovic) set a season-best in the 100-back at 53.60 while finishing second, while sophomore Daniel Grippi (Voorhees, N.J./Easton) set season-best marks in both diving events, scoring 213.23 on the 1-meter board and 206.55 on the 3-meter board.
On the women’s side, sophomore Rebecca Godwin (
Sophomore diver Amanda Shinholser (Burtonsville, Md./Springbrook) took home her first career win in the 3-meter with a season-best mark of 209.78 while placing second on the 1-meter board with a score of 189.15.
Other winners for the Retriever women included sophomore Cassie Dobrzanski (Maugansville, Md./North Hagerstown) in the 1,000-free (10:46.64), junior Lindsay Sherman (Bethany, Conn./Amity) in the 200-free (1:56.60), freshman Kelsey Fitzpatrick (Delran, N.J./Delran) in the 100-back (1:02.45), sophomore Sarah Ryan (Rockville Centre, N.Y./Oceanside) in the 200-fly (2:10.23), senior Daniele Surkovich (Ellicott City, Md./Wilde Lake) in the 50-free (25.46), junior Sam Maccherola (Woolford, Md./South Carroll/Tennessee) in the 100-free (53.60), freshman Pink Kinanti (Jakarta, Indonesia/The Bolles School) in the 500-free (5:13.41) and sophomore Gaby Johnston (Windsor, Conn./Loomis Chaffee School) in the 100 fly (1:00.58).
