CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—UMBC swimming and diving junior Justin Bronson (Oshawa, Ontario, Canada/Msgr. Paul Dwyer) has been named the America East Conference Men’s Swimming Performer of the Week for the week ending Nov. 5, the conference announced Tuesday.

Bronson, a Retriever tri-captain, picks up the award for the second time this season after garnering the league’s first round of honors for the week ending Oct. 22.

The junior currently holds the fastest times swum in the conference this year in the 100 (47.33) and 200 (1:42.30) freestyle events, as well the Retrievers’ fastest time in the 500 freestyle (4:44.44).

Bronson led the Retrievers to a dual meet win over conference rival Binghamton last Saturday, leading Retriever sweeps in the 200 and 500 freestyles and also taking individual gold in the 100 freestyle.

Bronson turned in times of 1:45.64 in the 200, 4:47.57 in the 500, and 48.50 in the 100.  He was also part of the third-place 400 freestyle relay, which finished with a time of 3:17.13.

Bronson and the Retrievers will return to competition at the UMBC Natatorium on Saturday when they take on Towson at 1:00 p.m.
