11/21/2006

Jeff Salgado was named America Eas Diver of the Week for the third time this season.

Agnes Stanislawska earned America East Swimmer of the Week for the first time this season.

Boston-UMBC senior Agnes Stanislawska was named America East Women’s Swimming Performer of the Week for the week ending Nov. 19, while senior Jeff Salgado earned Men’s Diving Performer of the Week honors, the conference announced Tuesday.

Stanislawska broke her own school record in the 200-IM with and NCAA consideration time of 2:03.74 at the George Mason Patriot Invitational over the weekend. She won three individual events, the 200-IM, 100-breast (1:04.38) and 200-back (2:02.88), and swam on three winning relays. She also placed second in the 100-back with a team and personal-best time of 57.81, the second fastest time in UMBC history. Her time in the 200-back is also a team and personal-best and the third-fastest ever for a Retriever, while 100-breast time is the fastest on the team this season.

Salgado placed third on the three-meter board (262.90) and fourth on the one-meter board (232.95) at the George Mason Patriot Invitational. His prelim score on the one-meter board (295.95) is his second-best of the season, while his prelim score on the three-meter board (287.60) is his third-best of the year.

The Retriever men and women both won the Patriot Invitational. The men dominated the meet, scoring 1,037 points and defeating second-place UNC-Wilmington by 411.5 points. The women’s meet came down to the last event, the 400-free relay, which the Retrievers won for the 772-753 victory over runner-up Duke.

The Retrievers have two weeks off from competition before heading to Bucknell on Dec. 3.
