UMBC’S BRONSON ENJOYS SUCCESS AT CANADIAN PAN-PACIFIC SWIMMING TRIALS

Justin Bronson qualified for the finals in two events at the Canadian Pan-Pacific Trials this weekend.

Montreal, Quebec-UMBC sophomore swimmer Justin Bronson (Oshawa, Ontario/Msgr. Paul Dwyer) competed at the Canadian Pan-Pacific Trials this weekend at the Jean Drapeau Pool in Montreal, placing as high as sixth in the 400-meter freestyle.

 

The top two finishers in each event qualify for the Pan-Pacific Swimming Championships in Victoria, British Columbia, Aug. 17-21, where they will compete against the top swimmers from the United States, Australia, Japan and other major non-European countries.

 

Bronson finished sixth in the 400 free with a time of 4:03.64. He also qualified for the finals in the 200-meter freestyle, placing 15th in 1:54.92.

 

Bronson also competed in the 100-meter butterfly and the 100-meter freestyle, placing 21st and 22nd, respectively.

 

As a freshman in 2005, Bronson won the America East title in the 500-yard freestyle and the 800-yard freestyle relay, helping the Retrievers to their third consecutive America East championship.
