RETRIEVER SWIMMING SWEEPS PAST OLD DOMINION: SPLIT WITH WILLIAM & MARY

Both UMBC swimming and diving teams swept a dual meet with Old Dominion today as the men won, 178-114, and the women were victorious, 154-142. The men's team dual record now stands at 11-1 on the season, a new Retriever record, while the women move to 7-6 overall. Individually for UMBC on the men's side, senior co-captain Mehdi Addadi remained undefeated in dual meets this year as he swept three events: the 50 free (21.61s), the 200 back (1:53.23) and the 100 fly (51.35s). Dual winners for the Retrievers were senior co-captain Evan Patrick (200 free, 100 free), sophomore Josh Farley (1000 free, 500 free) and junior Karl Strauss (100 breast, 200 breast). Freshman diver Dustin Boone won the 1-meter diving competition for UMBC as well.For the women, sophomores Astrid Sperling and Holly Wittsack and freshman Lindsey Prather paced the Retrievers as they all captured two events each; Sperling taking the 200 back and the 200 IM, Wittsack winning the 100 and 200 fly and Prather grabbing the 100 and 200 breast. The men triumphed, 155-80, while the women were edged, 135-108. On the women's side, Astrid Sperling set a new pool record in winning the 100 backstroke in 59.79. The men's team shattered five W&M pool records, including Ramon James in the 100 backstroke (51.97), Josh Farley in the 200 I.M. (1:54.92), Evan Patrick in both the 100 (46.09) and 200 freestyle (1:41.27) and the 400 medley relay team of Karl Strauss, Ramon Janes, Mehdi Addadi, and Evan Patrick (3:26.19).
