AMERICA EAST SWIMMING AND DIVING CHAMPIONSHIPS DAY TWO PRELIMINARY RESULTS

Boston-Seven UMBC swimmers placed in the top eight in the 500-yard freestyle and will compete in Friday night’s finals session on the second day of action at the America East Championships. In all, 15 Retriever men and nine UMBC women will swim tonight.
The men took the top seven spots in the 500-free, led by freshman Justin Bronson, who took the top seed in the 500-free with a season-best time of 4:31.54. Following Bronson, in order, were freshman Evan Roseberry (4:35.16), senior Geza Szabo (4:35.36), junior Ryan Karrer (4:36.14), freshman Freddie Reitz (4:39.29), senior Joe Raymond (4:42.38) and sophomore Joey Sementelli (4:44.74).
Senior Adam Blais (1:55.12) and junior Juan Ortiz (1:55.78) placed fourth and fifth in the 200-IM prelims and will swim for the conference title tonight. Sophomore Eric Skrabcz (1:57.93) placed ninth in the event, while sophomore Alejandro Lopez (1:59.38) finished 12th and junior Brian Jaeggi (1:59.87) took 14th. All three will compete in the consolation heat this evening.
Junior Tim Conway (21.61) was the only Retriever to place in the top eight in the 50-free, as he finished fourth. Freshman Milos Djukic (22.13) tied for 11th and sophomore Scott Auchter (22.34) came in 16th. Both will swim in the consolation finals.
The women were led by sophomore Meghan Sackett, who took the top seed in the 500-free (4:59.27). Senior Amber Harris (5:08.56) and sophomore Rachel Lesslie (5:09.53) placed fourth and sixth, respectively, and will join Sackett in tonight’s finals.
Freshman Daniele Surkovich took the top seed in the 50-free (24.10). She will be joined in the finals by freshman Robin Klein (24.63), senior Elyse Gibson (24.64) and sophomore Lindsey Engler (24.80), who placed fourth, fifth and seventh, respectively.
Finally, junior Agnes Stanislawska (2:07.19) finished fourth in the 200-IM, while freshman Joy Wilde (2:09.90) came in sixth. They will both compete in tonight’s finals heat.
In addition to the finals of the 500-free, 200-IM and 50-free, Friday evening’s session will also include the women’s 3-meter diving competition, as well as the 200-freestyle relay. The session begins at
The two-time defending conference champion Retriever men are currently in third place with 92 points, behind Stony Brook (110) and
On Thursday the men’s team took home the conference title in the 800-free relay, while the women broke the 200-medley relay school record.
