TEN WOMEN, SEVEN MEN COMPRISE INCOMING CLASS FOR SWIMMING AND DIVING

Head Women’s Swimming and Diving Coach Chad Cradock is pleased to announce his incoming student-athletes for the fall of 2005. On the women’s side, there are nine freshman and one junior transfer that will debut for the Retrievers in mid-October. For the men, there will be six freshmen and a junior transfer.
I am excited about our new incoming class,” said Coach Cradock. “This year's women's team will be UMBC's largest and highest in quality and the newcomers will play a huge impact. As far as the men are concerned, there are some real standouts who will also make a huge impact.”
UMBC opens the 2005-06 campaign with a dual meet at Rider on Saturday, October 22. The following Saturday, October 29, both squads open the home schedule vs. Navy, and the Retrievers face league rivals New Hampshire and Binghamton in November as they prepare for the America East Championships at Boston University February 16-19.
“This year we have stepped up our schedule and our athletes and are looking forward to the additions of Bucknell and UNH,” said Coach Cradock.

UMBC Swimming and Diving Incoming Women:
Sarah Aichele comes to UMBC from Frederick, MD swims for Monocacy Aquatic Club swimming under Coach Andy Lehner. She will add depth to the distance events.
Brittany Bertoli is from Lancaster, PA where she swims under Coach Charlie Fry for Lancaster Aquatic Club. She attended Hempfield High School. She will contribute to the backstroke, butterfly and IM events.
Christina Cantwell (Tina) is from Sinking Spring, PA and attended the Hill School where she swam under Coach Sarah Retrum. She will help the Retrievers out in the backstroke, breaststroke and IM events.
Ashley Houghton is a transfer from University of Pittsburgh. Her home town is Frederick, MD. She will contribute next year in the diving events.
Robin Klein attended McMinnville High School in McMinnville, OR. Robin swims for the McMinnville Swim Club under Coach Kyle Kimball. She will contribute in the sprint/mid freestyle, breaststroke and IM events.
Christina Ng is from Bethpage, NY where she went to Plainedge High School. She swims for Lindenhurst Swim Team where she was coached by Ed Ryan. Christina will help the Retrievers out in the sprint freestyle events.
Elisha Peregino comes to us from Abington, MD and was a member of the Retriever Aquatic Club under Coach Tom Himes for the past three years. She attended Edgewood High School and will compete in the mid freestyle, butterfly and IM events.
Daniele Surkovich is another Retriever Aquatic Club member swimming under Coach Tom Himes. She is from Columbia, MD where she attended Wilde Lake High School. She will contribute this season in the sprint/mid freestyle, butterfly and IM events.
Courtney White’s home town is Woodbridge, VA where she attended CD Hylton High School. She swims for QDD under Coaches Jeremy Linn and William Shaw. She will add depth to the breaststroke and IM events.
Joy Wilde comes to us from Greenlawn PA and swims for Team Suffolk under Coach John Pisano. She attended Harborfields High School and will contribute next year in the breaststroke and IM events.
UMBC Swimming and Diving Incoming Men:
Justin Bronson’s hometown is Oshawa, Ontario where he attended Msgr. Paul Dwyer High School. He swims for Oshawa Aquatic Club under the direction of Coach Gord Sprung. This August he will be competing in the Canada Games. He will add depth to the sprint/mid freestyle and butterfly events.
Joshua Nachman is from Ellicott City, MD and swims for the Retriever Aquatic Club under Coach Tom Himes. He attended Wilde Lake High School. He will swim the sprint freestyle and IM events
Juan Ortiz is a junior transfer from Indian River Community College where he was coached by Shaun Zitani. His hometown is Cali, Columbia. He will add depth in the mid freestyle and IM Events.
Frederick Reitz comes to UMBC from Ellicott City, MD where he attended Howard High School. Freddie swims for the Retriever Aquatic Club under the direction of Coach Tom Himes. He will help the team out in the freestyle, breaststroke and IM events.
Evan Roseberry comes to UMBC from Sinking Spring, PA where he attended Wilson High School. He is coached by his mother Coach Veronica Rosa for his Club and Coach Roy Snyder at Wilson. He will add depth to the Mid and Distance freestyle and IM events.
PJ Sterba is from Frederick, MD where he attended Governor Thomas High School. He swims for the Frederick Area Swim Team which is coached by Cheryl Linscott. He will help the team out in the sprint and mid freestyle events.
Kyle Wisor is from Silver Spring, MD where he attended John F. Kennedy High School. He swims for Rockville Montgomery Swim Club under Coach Terry Kominski. He will help out the Retrievers in sprint and mid free events.
