UMBC MEN AND WOMEN FINISH SIXTH AND TWELFTH, RESPECTIVELY, AT ECAC SWIMMING & DIVING CHAMPIONSHIPS

    The UMBC men's and women's swimming and diving teams finished sixth and twelfth, respectively, after the Retrievers sent less than half the members of their squads to the ECAC Championships at Pittsburgh, Pa. The Retriever men ended the three-day meet with 328.5 points, while the women had 78.

    On day three, the Retrievers were led by sophomore Ryan Karrer, who won the mile in 15:46.98, and junior Geza Szabo, who took second place in the 200 butterfly at 1:50.91. In addition, sophomore diver Jeff Salgado added points by finishing third in the 1-meter competition with a total of 241.15 points.

    On the women's side, UMBC was paced by junior Amber Harris, who finished fourth in the 200 backstroke at 2:05.57.
