The UMBC men’s Swimming and Diving team currently ranks seventh in the nation among Division I Mid-Major teams, according to CollegeSwimming.com. The Retrievers remain undefeated with a 5-0 record after sweeping their opponents in the first half of the 2004-05 season.

The Top 25 list also includes fourth-ranked Navy (9-1), whose only loss came against the Retrievers in late October, as well as #18 William & Mary (1-3), who fell to UMBC, 143-85. Other teams who made the list were #14 UNC-Wilmington, #19 George Mason, and #22 George Washington, all of whom were at the George Mason Patriot Invitational, in which UMBC placed third, behind Yale and Duke.

America East rival Binghamton also made the list at the 23rd spot, while Marist, who the Retrievers will face in January, was ranked 20th.

The UMBC women also made the list, ranking 21st among Division I Mid-Major teams. Both Retriever squads will be in training until January 7, when they travel to Washington, D.C. to take on the Howard Sharks. The regular season will conclude on February 5 when the Retrievers host Johns Hopkins, after which UMBC will look to defend its America East title when they host the league championships at the UMBC Natatorium on February 17-20.
