On the men’s side, the UMBC Retrievers and Binghamton Bearcats combined for a sweep of first place finishes in all events. The Retrievers were led by sophomore Ryan Karrer, who took first in both the 500 and 1,000 freestyle events, and freshman Karn Yisomruay, who won the 200 IM and 200 backstroke.
On the women’s side, UMBC and Seton Hall claimed all first place spots. The Pirates took an early lead, as they won five of the first seven events. However, the Retrievers battled back to claim first place in the final six events to hold on to the win. UMBC was led by sophomore Agnes Stanislawska, who won the 200 backstroke and 200 breaststroke, and freshman Lindsey Engler, who finished first in the 50 and 100 freestyle events. Sophomore Katie Spohnholz also contributed points for the UMBC women, as she took first place in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events.
Both UMBC teams return to action on Saturday, November 13, when they travel to face cross-town rival
